Ngā mino-whakawhiti Interloans
Can't find what you need in the Wellington City Libraries collection? We provide an inter-library loan (interloan) service that allows you to access material held in other libraries in New Zealand or overseas.
How does it work?
- Anyone with a current library card can request an interloan
- Books, articles, theses, music scores, audio-visual material, car manuals and more can all be requested
- At this time, eBooks and eAudiobooks cannot be interloaned
- Remember that we rely on supplying libraries as well as the postal service for all interloans — we cannot guarantee delivery, although we do our best
How much does it cost?
|Type of interloan
|Standard New Zealand interloans
National Library — if the item you are seeking is from the National Library general collection, the charge will only be $5
|Urgent New Zealand interloans
|Interloans from Australia
|Other international interloans
|Between $25 - $100 (a quote will be provided for the specific item)
How long does it take?
For a standard interloan, how long it will take to arrive depends on the availability of the item at holding libraries. It's advisable to plan ahead when requesting material, as there could be a delay e.g. where the item is already on loan.
Delivery is guaranteed within one to three business days.
This depends on the library it is borrowed from (usually about three weeks)
The Interloans team can put in in a request for a renewal if you require further time. If approved by the lending library, the renewal is free of charge.
Collecting your interloan
Branch library staff will contact you by email or telephone to let you know that the interloan has arrived.
If you've requested an article, we can either email these to you as an electronic copy (in accordance with copyright conditions) or you can choose to collect a printed copy from a branch library.
You can contact the Interloans team on 801 4057, or email email@example.com.
