Ngā mino-whakawhiti - Interloans

Can't find what you need in our collection? We provide an inter-library loan (interloan) service that allows you to access material held in other libraries in New Zealand or overseas.

How does it work?

  • Anyone with a current library card can request an interloan
  • Books, articles, theses, music scores, audio-visual material, car manuals and more can all be requested
  • At this time, eBooks and eAudiobooks cannot be interloaned
  • Remember that we rely on supplying libraries as well as the postal service for all interloans — we cannot guarantee delivery, although we do our best

How long does it take?

Standard interloans

For a standard interloan, how long it will take to arrive depends on the availability of the item at holding libraries. It's advisable to plan ahead when requesting material, as there could be a delay e.g. where the item is already on loan.

Urgent interloans

Delivery is guaranteed within one to three business days.

If you have an urgent interloan request, please contact Wellington City Libraries' Interloans team — email interloans@wcc.govt.nz, or phone 801 4057.

Lending period

This depends on the library it is borrowed from (usually about three weeks)

Renewals

The Interloans team can put in in a request for a renewal if you require further time. If approved by the lending library, the renewal is free of charge.
