When/where was the new album recorded?

The album was recorded at Massey Studios here in Wellington!

Who produced/engineered the album? How did the tracks come together in the studio, or at home?

The album was produced and engineered by the band, but above all else our drummer Jackson Kidd. It was a mixture of things, some done at band practice, some at my home studio and some whilst we were recording.

How did the songwriting happen? Are there any overall themes within the songs/album?

The theme of the album was just purely to have fun. The moment I stopped caring about making art, I started making great music! A majority of what we did came from my perspective, however the rest of the band really made each song their own in their respective fields and made something one million times better than I could’ve by myself!

Were you going for a different sound/approach on this album?

We definitely felt a need for everything to be a bit more raw this time around. We wanted to make it feel like you were there in the room with us just getting attacked by the sound, but also having a good time whilst you’re in it!

Was there any specific gear you used to capture that?

In terms of gear, we mainly used what we would use on a live stage, which I think really helped encapsulate that sound I mentioned before. I’m sure that there is a more technical answer than this that Jackson could provide, but that’s all I know.

Is there a particular single/track that you feel captures the essence of the album?

I’d say Cardboard Box Office really encompasses everything for the album, all the fun we had while making it and the fun we had listening to it for the first time. From a lyrical perspective especially, it was just one of the first times where I felt like being deep and meaningful had no meaning to me, and my best bet was just to go and sing about whatever came to mind!

Is there a physical copy available? If not which digital platforms is it available on?

Hopefully we will get some vinyl soon, but for now, it’s available on all your favourite streaming platforms!

Are you working on a video/videos for any of the songs? Are you doing any gigs or promotion for its release?

We have a few videos out with a few more to come, and while we would’ve loved to have done an album release show we just didn’t get the time to organize it with everything else going on. However, you can catch us on September the 26th alongside Skram at San Fran. Should be an awesome time!
