Author Cal Newport recently released a new book on productivity. Entitled Slow Productivity: the lost art of accomplishment without burnout this is Newport's eighth book.

With a background in computer science, Cal, an American writer and academic, has focussed much of his writing around "intersections of technology, work, and the quest to find depth in an increasingly distracted world".

With over 2 million in sales, a number of his books have made the New York Times best seller list and been translated into more than 40 languages.

Newport also hosts the Deep Questions podcast.

In Slow Productivity, the author describes a "new philosophy for pursuing meaningful accomplishment while avoiding overload, based around three principles:
1) Do Fewer Things;
(2) Work at a Natural Pace;
(3) Obsess Over Quality.
