G'Day, Kia ora, Hello! A Global Hangout for Rangatahi
Have you ever wondered what it's like living in another country? 11-15 year olds can sign up for our Global Hangout to meet other teens from overseas, play games, and eat snacks -- all online!

Are you aged 11-15, and interested in making a friend from across the pond? Or even from across an even bigger pond than the one you're thinking of? Perhaps you already have a pen pal through our Dear Delaware programme, and are keen for something even more... delicious?
Sign up for our Global Hangout for Rangatahi, and take the opportunity to travel virtually from Wellington to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; and Nicholasville, Kentucky, USA!
On the 1st of March 2025 at 1pm, we're bringing together a small group of young people from all three countries to meet, chat, play games like Gartic Phone, do some Kahoot quizzes on absurdly specific cultural phenomena, learn more about what it is like to live in Australia and the USA, share your experiences of living in Aotearoa, and hopefully make a few new friends along the way!
Think of it as a cultural exchange, but a whole lot cheaper and you don't have to get in a plane for more hours than you'd care to count. You'll learn about the things you have in common, and the things that make you unique, by discovering different traditions, foods, hobbies, slang and more.

Vegemite - the ultimate intercultural experience.
This event is being run online via Microsoft Teams, and will be facilitated by your favourite librarians from Wellington City Libraries, Jessamine County Public Library (Kentucky) and Wyndham City Libraries (Australia). However, before everyone meets online, all participants will receive a travel kit featuring some very special souvenirs and snacks to try from our new overseas friends. It's very important that you don't sneakily eat all the snacks before we meet, because part of the fun is going to be everyone trying out these foods for the first time (we can't wait to see how the American kids enjoy trying Australian Vegemite...).
Places for this one-off programme are limited, and bookings are essential to reserve a place and your snack kit! This event is exclusively for rangatahi aged 11-15.
Visit our event calendar and hit 'Sign Up' to register for this event before it's too late below, and we'll see you there!
