If our libraries don't have an item you can place an Interloan. An Interloan is a request for a library item that we don't have but another library around New Zealand does.
To find out what other libraries in New Zealand hold, the best option is to check Te Puna, the National Bibliographic Database hosted by the National Library of New Zealand. Te Puna is the largest bibliographic database in New Zealand with details of more than 9 million books, journals, and audiovisual items held in New Zealand libraries. This database contains records of New Zealand and overseas resources (provided by Library of Congress, the British National Bibliography and National Library of Australia), including which NZ libraries have holdings.
To use Te Puna you need to enter your library card details in the Te Puna login screen

|
Arrival Time: |
Time taken for an Interloan to arrive depends on the difficulty of the search for, and the availability of, the material at the holding libraries in New Zealand. It's advisable to plan ahead when requesting material, as there could be a delay of a month or more, particularly if the item you seek is already on loan to a local customer.
If you have an urgent interloan request, please contact Wellington City Libraries' Prosearch team at prosearch@wcc.govt.nz |
| Loan Time (to you): | This depends on the library it is borrowed from, usually 3 weeks. Some items may be renewed, but again, this depends on the conditions set by the library they are borrowed from. |
