Wadestown PIN Group Morning Tea
New parents and their babies enjoy morning tea at Wadestown Library's Community Space
Local Wadestown PIN group (Plunket in the Neighbourhood) Coordinator, Anna O'Meeghan, says it's a real bonus having the lounge area at the local library as it allows new parents the chance to get out of the house to meet others and their babies in a pleasant and relaxed setting.
New PIN groups are set up on a regular basis and are one of a number of services offered by the local Wellington Plunket Committee which covers Wadestown, Wilton, Thorndon, Te Aro, Kelburn ,Northland and Highbury.
The committee is always keen to welcome new members and if you are interested in being involved with Plunket activities would love to hear from you – please contact Anna on 499-2092.
Wadestown Community Centre Advocate, Louise Davies, along with the branch Library staff, enjoys welcoming such groups into the library and provides free tea and coffee for parents who are able to use the area on a regular basis.
Bookings can be made through the Community Centre Advocate on Phone 499-1825.
Children were encouraged to wear their pyjamas to the special evening Christmas Storytime at Wadestown Library and it was excellent to see parents joining in with the festive activities!
Everyone had a great time and after enjoying Andre's stories and singing some Christmas songs the children took pictures with them to colour in at home

Marina's Russian Tea Party
Wadestown locals and some Wellington visitors took up the opportunity of trying a Russian Tea tasting afternoon tea party at Wadestown library's Community Space on Thursday 30 May.
Marina Babitcheva, a librarian who works at Wadestown library, served various types of Russian tea and traditional delicacies to a delighted group. She also discussed various aspects of Russian culture and daily life from her years growing up and living in Moscow.
Community Coordinator Louise Davies was pleased with the turnout and response to the free event. "It was lovely to see everyone mingling and enjoying the opportunity to warm up over tea while learning about Russian culture."
