What you can borrow, how long you can borrow it for, how much it costs (see our separate overdues page)
*CYA: Children and Young Adult Collection
* * AV material teaching Māori & English includes CDs, CD-ROMs, Videos, Cassettes, Kits and all of the the Adult Learning collection. * * * Library cardholders who live or pay rates in Wellington city who are also Community Services Card holders; card must be shown to receive discount. "Out of Town" cardholders are ineligible for this discount. These charges take effect from Monday 2 July 2007. NOTE: There is no limit to the number of items you can take out, but if someone wishes to borrow all items on the subject, we may ask you, in fairness to other library users, to limit your selection An interlibrary return fee of $1 per item applies when a library item is returned to a library it wasn't issued from: as an example, books borrowed from Miramar Library are returned at Central Library. Returning items to the library you borrowed them from means they are back on the shelves sooner, for others to borrow. It means we can provide a more efficient service so that you get the most out of our libraries.
The Passport to Leisure scheme is no longer available, however community service card holders are eligible for discounted services. More information on this change is available on the Wellington City Council website. For more information about our borrowing services please e-mail us at enquiries@wcl.govt.nz or phone your local branch. Search our Catalogue and check whether an item is on our shelves before you come into the library Find out about Reserving an Item that is out, Requesting an Interloan or making a 'Suggestion to Buy' about an item the library does not have.
